Funomena is a new development studio founded by Robin Hunicke and Martin Middleton from ThatGameCompany. Both worked on one of the most celebrated video games of the last decade, Journey. I'm one of the rare birds that never played Journey, so I didn't come into this game with any preconceived notions or expectations. Regardless, I could quickly see how Luna would strike the fancy of a certain type of gamer. Apparently, I'm not that type, because the overall experience just didn't do much for me. I found it to be highly artistic in nature, certainly interesting if nothing else, but I didn't find the brief moments of gameplay to be particularly engaging. Even calling it a game is a bit of a stretch. You interact with a 3D star map for very short puzzles, but it's more busy work than anything. I appreciate the creative process on display here, but at the end of the day, I'm looking for a bit more gameplay than this.
