At the end of the day, Red Matter is essentially an "Escape the Room" game, set on the breathtaking backdrop of an abandoned space station. But what a glorious escape the room game it is! The graphics are drop-dead gorgeous. The background music is hauntingly effective. The voice work of mission control is impeccable. Everything comes together to give us one of the best VR games we currently have on any platform. If there's a fly in the ointment, it might be that the story gets a bit silly and stereotypical towards the end. Still, at least this VR game actually features a fully fleshed out story. Additionally, Vertical Robot takes full advantage of the concept of environmental storytelling. Every nook and cranny of the game is deserving of exploration and appreciation.
