VR Gaming backlogs? Yes, it can actually happen...

Pictured above is To The Top from Electric Hat Games. I really, really enjoyed my time with To The Top. Unfortunately, I haven't played that game in weeks. Why wouldn't I play one of my new favorite VR games? It's simply a matter of time, and too many great games. Flat gamers have known of this phenomenon for a millennia. It's a tale as old as time. Too many great games, not enough hours in the day. VR gamers on the other hand, this is a relatively new problem to have. The harshest critics of VR gaming have their rallying cry. "VR has no games!". Well, if that's true, then explain to me how I can't even seem to find the time to play an outstanding game like To The Top. Instead, I'm playing Vindicta or Dead Effect 2.

Dead Effect 2 is a game that demands my respect, and some playtime. Whenever I fire up my Vive, I have to play at least one session of Dead Effect 2. BadFly Interactive really killed it with that one.

Or you have a game like Vindicta from the Game Cooks. I simply can't get enough of that arm-swinging locomotion mechanic. So easy, so effortless. Gliding through those levels like I'm windsurfing along. Blasting robots and mechanical insects. Having a blast. I haven't even mentioned my PlayStation VR. That system is buzzing with new releases. Arizona Sunshine and Ancient Amuletor both released just the other day. Recent bangers like Farpoint and Statik are still at the forefront of my mind. Polybius is another game I should be finishing.

Of course we can't forget about the Oculus Rift. So many great games hitting that platform at the same time. The Mage's Tale could be on of the finest VR games we've seen in quite some time.

If Vanishing Realms is considered one of the all time VR greats (and it should be), well, The Mage's Tale is doing some of the same things, and doing some of them better.

It's really been an impressive few months for VR collectively. So many strong games released on all 3 of the big VR platforms. Christmas in July as I like to call it. In fact, my hard drive got so full, I had to double back and start deleting game demos and other things I knew I would probably never touch. This is a great sign for the VR industry overall. The manta of "VR has no games" is starting to ring hollow. The crazy thing is, we are still a few months out from some serious heat. (Fallout 4 VR, Skyrim & Artika.1 come to mind). Not to mention how packed the month of July is with new releases. I've never looked upon gaming backlogs as a healthy thing, but for the first time in my life as a gamer, I think I welcome it. While it's a real pain in the neck, and I know I need to play more To The Top and Polybius, it's a good sign in general. Now back to my stack of games staring at me...
