Firewall: Zero Hour dated for August 28th!

Adam Orth, Creative Strategist at First Contact Entertainment, was interviewed at e3 recently where he mentioned that Firewall: Zero Hour was coming very, very, very, very, very soon. (That's five soon's, by the way) Technically, he's right. Although August 28th isn't exactly right around the corner, it's not Winter 2018 either. Many PSVR devotees were hoping the release was mere days away, but I guess they'll find solace in the fact that the game will hit prior to Labor Day weekend, so there's that...

In addition to finding out the exact release date, Sony has also released a brand new gameplay trailer today for the highly anticipated squad based shooter:

It's somewhat surprising that developer First Contact Entertainment, would be the studio behind the single Most Wanted PlayStation VR game currently in existence. HTC Vive and Oculus Rift players might be more familiar with the developer, as their first VR game, ROM:Extraction, has been available on Steam since late 2016. That game hasn't exactly dominated the Vive or Rift Top 100 charts, in fact, it's never made the cut on either ranking. We won't hold that against First Contact, because sometimes your first crack at making a game for an entirely new entertainment medium doesn't come off exactly the way you envisioned. Still, we know that regardless of their previous pedigree, they seem to have a major hit on their hands with Firewall: Zero Hour. Nearly every single gaming journalist that gets hands on time with the game, comes away extremely impressed.

At first blush, you might think this could be the Call of Duty of VR games, but upon closer inspection, you'll instead realize it's much closer to Rainbow Six or Counter-Strike. This is a squad-based tactical game that requires legit teamwork and communication to be successful. If you try to run and gun your way through this game, you'll probably find yourself lying flat on your back staring up at ceiling tiles. It's a good thing every PSVR headset features a built-in microphone, because it's going to be absolutely essential to a winning strategy. This is the kind of game were you need to learn the maps like the back of your hand, and formulate a plan of attack before the first shot is fired. The good news, if you're new to the tactical FPS genre, is that Firstwall includes several training modes where you can train alone, or with other players against enemy A.I.

Firewall: Zero Hour will be available both physically at retailers and also digitally on PSN. Even better though, is the fact that an AIM controller bundle is on the way as well! If you missed out on the Farpoint or Bravo Team AIM bundles, now you have a chance to grab this highly regarded accessory with the hottest new PSVR game around. Not a bad deal! If you pre-order the game in advance, Sony and First Contact Entertainment are including the Zero Hour Pack at no extra charge. Exclusive character and weapon camo, face paint and "Texas" contractor Sarah Wells who has a unique skill that allows her to take less bullet damage all come along for the ride. You'll also receive extra in-game currency and double XP for a 24 hour period, among other goodies. The Firewall Zero Hour PS Aim Bundle is also available for pre-order starting today, and it includes the Zero Hour Pack of exclusives. First Contact Entertainment will have more info about the game leading up to it's release on August 28th, and we'll be sure to keep you posted as more details are revealed.
